“Avril's Coat”

Cotton and silk. Commissioned.

The Coat for Avril is inspired by the Elizabethan period, particularly men's fashion at this time of period costume. Much of the fabric panels were made up by piecing, layering and appliqué techniques to create a richness to the surface of the cloth. The sleeves can be removed, and are fastened under epaulettes known as piccadills at the shoulders.
